About the Artist

Vonn Valcarcel is a native of Germany but immigrated to the United States in 1956.

An avid birder, fisherman, and former elk hunter, he has incorporated his love for wildlife in his representations of birds, animals, and fish in his carefully crafted wood mosaics and three-dimensional carvings.

Each piece is handcrafted with no two pieces exactly alike. Using recycled hardwoods and softwoods, Vonn chooses from a variety of redwood, cedar, pine, maple, walnut, cherry, and exotic woods to create lifelike and sometimes whimsical renditions of the wildlife he cherishes.

From the Limited Edition “Eagle-in-Flight” to the stately and graceful Great Blue Heron, and from the Fly-by Mallards to the Whitetail Deer, his creations are made with love and skills learned from a lifetime of observing nature.

Vonn lives in the Pocono Mountains of Eastern Pennsylvania.
